It has been a little while since I last posted something. After reviewing earlier posts I realized it was, at long last, time to give a final account of how the BYOD experiment was going.
Cela fait un petit moment que je n’ai rien écrit. Après avoir parcouru des billets postérieurs j’ai réalisé qu’il était, enfin, temps de donner un compte rendu final de comment l’expérience BYOD se passait.
Bad is not even remotely close to accurately defining how it goes, nonexistent would be more like it. I suspect inspectors have even forgotten the tablet was still there for them to use. After I stopped accompanying them on site, just to show them how to use it, they asked for it a couple of times but rapidly stopped bothering.
Mal ne définit pas, même de loin, comment cela se passe, nul serait plus proche. Je pense que les inspecteurs ont même oublié que la tablette était toujours à leurs dispositions. Après que j’eu arrêté de les accompagner sur site, juste pour leur montrer comment l’utiliser, ils l’ont demandé une ou deux fois mais ont rapidement cessé de s’en occuper.
I guess I do sound bitter and I probably am. Honestly after giving it some thoughts, wondering what I had failed to do in order to trigger their interest and get past inconveniences that are inherent to using it (like transferring files back and forth) I stopped bothering myself.
Je dois probablement paraître amer et je le suis certainement. Honnêtement après y avoir réfléchi, me demandant en quoi je n’avais pas réussi à capter leur intérêt et dépasser les inconvénients inhérents à son usage (tel que l’échange de fichiers) j’ai moi aussi arrêté de me casser la tête.
I’m guessing what I missed doing, totally overlooking one key element in the process, was not to include the whole chain of command, at least the one related to inspection.
Je pense que ce que j’ai manqué de faire, ignorant totalement un élément clé dans le processus, a été de ne pas inclure toute la hiérarchie, du moins celle concernée par l’inspection.
However, in my defence, he was aware all along as he couldn’t ignore my attempts, our offices face one another across the corridor.
Cependant, à ma décharge, il a tout le temps été au courant de mes tentatives, nos bureaux se faisant face séparés par le couloir.
The positive aspect of it is that I can always mention this during my yearly appraisal. Small compensation though.
Le côté positif de ceci est que je peux toujours en faire mention pendant ma revue annuel. Maigre compensation cependant.
